Hello SwiftUI learners,
In today’s post I will not talk so much about code as I will give you an update on my goals for the year. 2024 was a horrible year for me in terms of getting my goals done. This year I have set up difficult but manageable goals that are similar to the ones I had 2024.

Otherwise, here are my 2025 goals:
Do at least 75 sessions at the gym
Go out and run at least 50 times
Study Spanish every day at Duolingo and finish every monthly challenge
Weigh 84kg at the end of 2025. Started the year at 89kg.
Write a diary every day on the iPhone
Write morning pages every day
Code SwiftUI at least once every day
Use AI at least once every day
Release an app to the App Store
Make first dollar in the the App Store
Read 6 books
Read 100 quarterly reports
Let’s go through them one by one.
Do at least 75 gym sessions at the gym
So far so good with this goal, I have managed to go to the gym 20 times so far so I am a bit over the average of 18,75 times per quarter. Still very motivated for this goal as I have started to notice some progress.
Go out and run at least 50 times
This one I have done okey with, have been running 10 times so far this year so I am a bit under the average of 12,5 times per quarter to reach this goal. But I am not worried as summer is coming and anyone who has lived in Sweden during the winter knows that January and February are the worst months of the year. So feeling confident I can catch up during spring and summer.
Study Spanish every day at Duolingo and finish every monthly challenge
So far so good, made at least one exercise each day and also managed to close all three monthly challenges, the pace of my Spanish learning is slow but I am getting a little better every day. Vamos!
Weigh 84kg at the end of 2025. Started the year at 89kg.
This one has started of very well for the first quarter. The year started out shaky as I went up to 90,5 kg again because of a lot of family birthday parties. But now I am down to 85,05 kg so should be able to get down to 84. My gf wants me to weigh 83 kg now so we’ll see, maybe I will go for that. But not further.
Write a diary every day on the iPhone
This one has gone well. So far I have been able to write on the iOS diary app everyday. With a total of 10211 words. Not a great word count but a good start. At the end of Q2 my goal is to reach 25k words total as a minimum. So I work on my ability to actually write down my day better and take the time for it.
Write morning pages every day
Same here as the above goal, been able to write down my thoughts every morning so far during 2025. With a total of 10479 words I am a little bit better here. The whole point for the morning pages is to write what comes to mind. There are no rules except for just writing and hopefully some ideas will emerge. But getting a daily writing habit in place has given me some more motivation to write more at this newsletter as well.
Code SwiftUI at least once every day
This I have done, some days I code much and some days I just add padding or something small. Depends on my free time but I have been able to open up the computer everyday to at least write one line of code. Still want to be able to expand but hard to find time between work and family time.
Use AI at least once every day
Been using ChatGPT everyday during 2025. Mostly for coding but also for other stuff, still trying to find my thing with AI. Realized I can use it a lot for work as well which is good. Plan is to expand my knowledge and thinking around AI. Still so much untapped potential in this field. Taking it one step at the time though.
Release an app to the App Store
This is the goal I am most worried about as I have not been feeling motivated to finish my app. I would say it is 85% done now, just need to fix some onboarding and pay walls then it’s most likely good to go. Still need to buy an apple developer account. The only thing that hinders me is my motivation I am not sure I want to release this app. I have also come to the realization that since I have so little spare time, it is hard to sit down and actually reflect on the problems I run in to while building. Which really hinders creative if you ask me. Let’s see what happens and how this evolve during 2025..
Make first dollar in the the App Store
This can only be achieved if I release an app to the App Store obviously. So fingers crossed!
Read 6 books
Finished Atomic Habits by James Clear. Now I started my second book so I am well prepared to be able to reach this goal.
Read 100 quarterly reports
Off to a good start with this goal as well, need to average 25 quarterly reports per quarter and so far I have been able to read 28. So I have set it up good to be able to reach this goal.
Moving forward to the end of Q2
I have actually set up some other goals, let’s call them side goals as 2025 started so good. Here they are:

Read Mario Draghi’s report on EU Competiveness - Part B
Learn the basics for Pixelmator Pro
Read and code the Core Data Mastery book from BigMountainStudio
Average 10k steps per day during 2025
So far so good, I started the year with no walking goal this year as I have averaged over 10k steps three years in a row. But after starting with a 7,7k average in January and 9,4k average in February I decided to add this goal again.
To sum this post up, I am feeling confident for now to be able to achieve all my goals for 2025. Even the newly added ones. Which feels good as I wasn’t even close in 2024.
